We love a challenge...so what was it?

Pearson is an international media publishing company with world-leading businesses in education, business and information publishing. Each year, from across the global Pearson workforce, the “bright, young things” of the organisation are selected to attend fast-track training schemes known as CPD groups. Consisting of various training events, these individuals are also set ongoing group assignments. But how do you do work together effectively if you’re spread across the globe? The other challenge was to show how social networking could be an innovative tool within the publishing environment.

Crikey, so what on earth did we do?

Within three weeks, we devised, designed and built a closed business ideation network which allowed staff to come together in one virtual working environment. Every member has a profile and can add ideas they’ve had, share examples of best practice, create various interest groups and control their privacy settings, set up, join, and comment on events.
In addition, we’ve built the site in such a way that every item posted by the user can be highly keyword-tagged which has meant that the site has now evolved into an excellent user-generated knowledge management system.

And how well did we do it? We won’t boast too much I promise.

The beta site has been built and will be shown to Pearson senior management in a few weeks. Initial feedback from the users has been extremely positive and we look forward to taking the site onwards and upwards.
